What’s in My Diaper Bag (as of today!)

Heave Ho

Heave Ho

The diaper bag is an ever evolving process.  Some people like to change items out for each new journey, but I am not one of those people.  I like to hoard as much shit as I can into one little bag because God Forbid that I be stranded somewhere without something – like baby scratch mittens!  Baby H doesn’t even use those anymore.  I cut him off of the mitten/sock on hand wearing cold turkey a few weeks ago.  There are a handful of things that I keep around for no real reason, maybe someday I’ll pull them out…

What’s in my Skip Hop diaper bag today?

A cheap bib
A Hello Kitty small planner
Pacifier wipes (H doesn’t use a pacifier! But they sound useful)
Boudreau’s Butt Paste
Aden and Anais burpy bib/cloth
An outfit change
Boogie Wipes
3 travel packages of baby wipes, each half used
A baby track jacket
4 diapers
EpiPen
A Dr. Brown’s bottle
A Ready-to-use bottle of formula
GoLean Crunch Kashi Bar
Baggies for used diapers (they’re so much like doggie poop bags!)
Sunscreen for mom
Sunscreen for baby
Aquaphor
Purell
Chapstick
2 empty zip lock baggies for used diapers/puked on clothes
2 pads
2 teething toys
Tissues
Babiator sunglasses
Baby scratch mittens

Be Amazed that all of this stuff can fit into one bag!  It’s like magic.  The funny part is that I lug the diaper bag around with me a lot, but I don’t actually bring it in with me (where ever we may be) all that often.  At this age, H is beyond the need for 4 diaper changes in a store.  Maybe it wasn’t an age thing, like it was probably a dairy allergy thing.  I will always remember the time when I was checking out at the grocery store, and I was swiping my card, and then looked down at the sleeping baby only to see that he had a yellow poop explosion all out of his diaper and on his leg and his car seat.  It was as if someone had dropped a cup of mustard on him… and I had no idea how long it had been there.  Oh well, the point is that I’m over prepared for many moments but babies are totally unpredictable so don’t be foolish and “pack light”.  Pack It All!
