Most people learn when they are really young that you shouldn’t eat a lot right before you do anything active: swim, bike, run, hike, golf. Whatever. I got home from work today and I was famished. I’m not sure why but it was one of those days where I needed more food, but I didn’t have any laying around. So of course when I got home I thought it would be best if I ate dinner first before running instead of having a snack since I probably would have over done it. I’m pretty sure that hunger had depleted my brain cells. I got out the blender and made a smoothie with 1 banana, 1 scoop of Vega vanilla chai powder, and a cup of low fat almond milk. I think I was just trying to use the bananas because they’re about to turn…but I really should have let that digest and gone running right then. Instead I also made a can of organic vegetarian chili with jalapenos on top and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. While I ate that, I let some brussel sprouts roast in the oven and then I ate those too! This meal would have been fine if the portions were smaller or if I weren’t running after! Guys, I’m sitting here a good 20 minutes after that run and I’m still wondering how I was able to waddle down the sidewalk in spandex with this giant food baby going on here.
Isn’t this the nicest thing ever? I have a fan! Ok, so totally not like a fan but I was someone’s idol for 10 whole seconds thanks to Twitter. [hey laurie]
If that wasn’t as fun for you as it was for me, then there’s more. I’ve been following a lot of other runner blogs lately and I love them. It makes me feel so good to know that other people are out there suffering, recovering, getting PRs, and eating their little hearts out. I think this is the funniest post I’ve seen in a long time by Washington Ran Here…because sometimes running hurts and sometimes that means you have to make really pained faces.
